Japan, Brazil to Team Up for Advanced Broadband Technologies

Japanese Internal Affairs and Communications Ministry announced on March 9 that it has collaborated with Brazil's Communications Ministry to jointly establish a forum, the Jiji Press reported on March 9, adding that the forum will be dedicated to the development of advanced broadband technologies. The forum will kick off its first meeting shortly, according to the same source, citing officials of the Japanese Ministry. Notably, the forum will also plan to collaborate in the development of 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology. The partnership between Japan and Brazil began back in 2006, when Brazil decided to adopt the Japanese digital terrestrial TV format. In 2007, Brazil made its initial foray into 3G mobile services, according to the same source.
